Topic 1 : "Heeding the spirit of the amendment"

  • Heeding - pay attention to something
  • Amendment - a minor change or addition to improve something
  • Address - a formal speech
  • Contest - an event in which people compete for authority
  • Tenures - the ​period of ​time during which you were in a position (PM, CM etc)
  • Obligation - something that you must do
  • Undermine - to make someone less ​confident, less ​powerful, or less ​likely to ​succeed
  • Taken something for granted - to not show that you are grateful for someone or something, and forget that you are lucky to have them
  • Embarrassment - a feeling of shame
  • Alliance - a union or association formed for mutual benefit, especially between political parties
  • Halfway - in the middle of a period of time
  • Hints - something that you say or do that ​shows what you ​think or ​want (usually in a way that is not ​direct)
  • Forge - to make or ​produce something, ​especially with some ​difficulty
  • Consensus - a general agreement
  • Agenda - a list of items to be discussed at a formal meeting
  • Unencumbered - not having any burden
  • Coalition - the ​joining together of different ​political ​parties or ​groups for a ​particular ​purpose, usually for a ​limited ​time

  • Inventive - having the ability to create or design new things or to think originally
