Topic 1 : "Marshalling resources to stay on track"

  • Marshalling - to ​bring together or ​organize ​people or things in ​order to ​achieve a ​particular ​aim
  • Notable - worthy of attention or notice
  • Emphasis - special importance
  • Ushering - guiding
  • Viability - ability to ​work as ​intended or to ​succeed
  • Shortfall - an ​amount that is less than the ​level that was ​expected or ​needed
  • Exacerbated - make (a problem, bad situation, or negative feeling) worse
  • Freight - goods transported in bulk by truck, train, ship, or aircraft
  • Projection - a ​calculation or ​guess about the ​future, ​based on ​information that you have
  • Reflects - to show / express something
  • Austerity - a ​difficult ​economic ​situation ​caused by a ​government ​reducing the ​amount of ​money it ​spends
  • Contain - to control
  • Notwithstanding - in spite of something / but
  • Substantial - large in ​size / ​value / importance
  • Impact - influence
  • Paucity - not enough of something
  • Extensively - of great extent (having a ​great ​range)

  • Constraint - a limitation or restriction

  • Execution - the ​act of doing or ​performing something, ​especially in a ​planned way
  • Spelt out -  to say or explain something very clearly
  • Initiative - a new ​plan to ​achieve something or to ​solve a ​problem
  • Enhancement - improvement
  • To bring them to fruition - to make them successful
  • Potential - having the capacity to develop something
  • Hard-pressed - having a lot of difficulties doing something (​especially because there is not enough ​time or ​money)

Topic 2 : "A prudent decision"

  • Prudent -  careful and avoiding risks
  • Patent - the official legal right to make or sell an invention for a particular number of years
  • Ambiguity - doubtfulness
  • Reverse - to change the direction, order, position, result, etc. of something to its opposite
  • Trigger - to cause something bad to start
  • Stance - a way of thinking about something, especially expressed in a publicly stated opinion
  • Per se - by or in itself or themselves
  • Ancillary -  providing support or help
  • Thereto - to the thing just mentioned
  • Thereon - on the thing that has been mentioned
  • Interprete - to decide what the intended meaning of something is
  • Unsettle - disturb
  • Nuance - a very ​slight ​difference in ​appearance
  • Nullification - to cancel something
  • Seemingly - according to the ​facts that you ​know
  • Giants - very ​powerful people
  • Deep pockets - having a lot of money
  • Significant - important or ​noticeable
  • Expertise - expert skill or knowledge in a particular field
  • Defend - to ​protect from ​attacks or ​criticism
  • Interpret - to ​decide what the ​intended ​meaning of something is
  • Lies - to exist
  • Assess - calculate or estimate the value of something
  • Conjunction - combination

  • Pertain - appropriate / related
  • Obvious - predictable / easy to understand
  • Consequently - as a result
  • Connotation - something suggested by a word
  • Regime - a system or ordered way of doing things
  • Imitation - the action of using someone or something as a model
  • Hindrance - obstacle (something that makes it more ​difficult for you to do something)
