After weeks of negotiations in Paris, a coalition of nearly 200 countries has agreed to a landmark climate change pact.

Awards & Honors

Legendary actor Dilip Kumar today presented with the Padma Vibhushan Award by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

The announcement to honour Bollywood veterans Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan and a few others with the prestigious Padma Vibhushan award was made by the government on the eve of Republic Day on January 25, 2015.
However, Dilip Kumar, due to ill-health, could not attend the special function held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in April when other Padma awardees were honoured by President Pranab Mukherjee.

Veteran Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah was honoured with the lifetime achievement award at the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF).

Mexican Government has approved a Dengue fever vaccine branded as Dengvaxia for the public use.

With this, Mexico became the first country in the world to approve a vaccine against dengue fever.

India’s largest lender State Bank of India is going to issue EMV chip and pin based debit cards to its new customers to ensure enhanced secure transactions.

EMV chip and pin feature protects against skimming and card transaction frauds.
With this, SBI has become the first large bank to issue 100 per cent EMV cards compliant with RBI’s directive on Security and Risk Mitigation Measures for Card Present and Electronic Payment Transactions.
The latest offering will allow consumers to transact securely at Point of Sale terminals.

The e-commerce giant, Alibaba Group Holding Ltd, has announced that it is going to buy the South China Morning Post (SCMP), the 112-year old English newspaper of Hong Kong.
The Centre today imposed an anti-dumping duty ranging from 5 to 57 per cent on import of cold-rolled flat products of stainless steel for five years.
Note : The duty has been imposed on China, South Korea, the US, South Africa, Thailand and Taiwan, besides the European Union.

The mascot and logo of the 12th South Asian Games, 2016 (OC-SAG) -Tikhor has been inaugurated in Guwahati today by Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and Union Sports minister Sarbanand Sonowal.
Important Points to Note :

The 12th South Asian Games will be held in Guwahati and Shillong from 6th to 16th of February next year.
The mascot Tikhor , the brand ambassador of the games carries the message of peace, stability, amity and progress in the South Asian region.
Tikhor means someone who is sharp, naughty and sporty resembling one horn rhino.
On the other hand, the logo which has also been launched today has eight petals representing the countries participating in the mega event.
