International Affairs
  • Ending 12 years of leftist rule, Conservative opposition candidate Mauricio Macri of Republican Proposal Party has won Argentina’s Presidential election.
MOUs
  • India and Singapore signed 10 agreements on mutual co-operation.
    • These agreements include- Joint Declaration on Strategic partnership, Agreement on defense cooperation, MoU between Airports Authority of India & Singapore Cooperation Enterprise in civil aviation.
  • The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) on co-operation and technical assistance.
    • The MoU was signed by the chairmen of the two bodies in the presence of Sheikh Hasina Wazed, prime minister of Bangladesh.
National Affairs
  • To cover inland fisheries, aquaculture, marine fisheries, including deep sea fishing and mariculture, the Centre today proposed to formulate an umbrella scheme ‘Blue Revolution: Integrated Development and Management of Fisheries’ with an outlay of Rs 3,000 crore.
    • This umbrella scheme will also cover all activities undertaken by the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) towards realising 'Blue Revolution'.

  • Delhi assembly passes CrPC (Delhi Amendment) Bill, 2015.
    • This bill proposes amendments in the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), setting up another flashpoint with the Centre, as it seeks to broaden the scope of magisterial probes into cases of kidnapping, rape and disappearances.

  • Veteran journalist, columnist and author Kuldip Nayar was honoured with ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ at the 8th edition of the prestigious Ramnath Goenka Excellence awards for years 2013 and 2014.
    • He was honored with this award,  for his contribution to journalism (He was the former editor of Indian Express). 
  • Popular Marathi actor-comedian Prashant Damle will be conferred with the Master Dinanath Mangeshkar Award 2015. 
    • He will be honored with this award for his work in the field of theatre, film and music. 
    • About Master Dinanath Mangeshkar Award :
    • This award was instituted in 1999 by Lata Mangeshkar and her family in the fond memory of her father.
    • This prestigious award comprises of a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, a memento and a citation.

  • Rishi Gour was appointed as Country President of Support services company Sodexo India On-site Services.
Deaths
  • The noted labour economist Dr. T.S. Papola (74) passed away.
Business & Economy
  • In a bid to tackle the threat posed by e-commerce sites to small traders, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has launched a portal named ‘e-lala’.
    • MasterCard and HDFC Bank have partnered with the portal to provide digital payment solutions.
    • The portal allows only those merchants who have a physical presence through brick and mortar stores to become sellers.
    • This porta was inaugurated by : M Venkaiah Naidu (Minister of Urban Development)
