- Modi invited Germany investors to invest in India to give further impetus to bilateral economic ties.
- Germany has pledged about one billion Euros ( 7,300 crore rupees) assistance for India’s solar projects as part of the bilateral cooperation in energy sector.
- The joint statement issued after the meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Angela Merkel said both the countries will continue to intensify their cooperation in developing climate-friendly and sustainable solutions for India’s expanding energy needs.

Science & Technology
- Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has announced that the social network is planning to launch a satellite that will provide internet access to remote parts of Africa.
- In partnership with French-based provider Eutelsat, Facebook hope the first satellite will be launched in 2016.
- The project is part of Facebook's Internet.org project, which has come under fierce criticism in some countries (including India).
- Delhi government appointed committee has recommended four fold hike in the salary of MLAs of Delhi Assembly.
- The three-member committee chaired by former Secretary General of Lok Sabha PDT Achary, in its report submitted to Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel, has favoured a 400 per cent hike in basic salary of MLAs from Rs 12,000 to Rs 50,000 per month.
- This results the hike from current Rs 88,000 per month to Rs 2.10 lakh if recommendations of an expert panel are accepted by the government.

- Jack Dorsey, co-founder of Twitter and Square, has been named Micro blogging site Twitter's permanent CEO.
- Dorsey stepped in as interim CEO of Twitter in place of Dick Costolo in July.

- The World Bank has said that for the first time less than 10% of the world's population will be living in extreme poverty by the end of 2015.
- The bank said it was using a new income figure of $1.90 per day to define extreme poverty, up from $1.25.
Deaths
- Bestselling Swedish crime writer Henning Mankel (67) passed away.
- Mankell was a leading figure in the Nordic Noir genre after creating his most famous character, Swedish police inspector Kurt Wallander, whom he based a series of novels between 1991 and 2009.
