International Affairs

• The head of the UN atomic agency warned Monday against complacency in preventing "nuclear terrorism", saying progress in recent years should not lull the world into a false sense of security. • Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar today asked Maharashtra government to implement the Central scheme of encouraging vegetable farming within the 50 km radius of cities and towns with 10 lakh population. 
• Lieutenant General Anil Chait has taken over as Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC) today.
• President Pranab Mukherjee today lauded former Maharashtra chief minister late Vasantrao Naik for the “political and economic stability” he gave the state and recalled his emphasis for flexibility in Central assistance to states.
• The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to hear Tamil Nadu government’s plea for constitution of Cauvery Management Board for effective implementation of Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal award.
• The Centre is keen on taking a decision on the Telangana statehood issue at the earliest by trying to evolve a consensus, Andhra Pradesh Governor E S L Narasimhan said today.
• The National Capital Region (NCR) Planning Board on Monday approved the inclusion of Haryana's Mahendragarh and Bhiwani districts in the NCR, besides agreeing to consider the proposal for inclusion of Jind and Karnal districts.
• Haryana government will spend a sum of Rs 32,16.28 crore for the welfare of people belonging to Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes through various schemes during the financial year 2013-14, officials said here today.
• Inter-ministerial body Telecom Commission (TC) is likely to take up the proposal for hiking foreign direct investment (FDI) limit in the sector from 74 per cent to 100 per cent in its meeting on Tuesday, June 2.
• The Madras High Court on Monday upheld the ban imposed by the Centre on the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in 2010.

• Chinese sixth seed Li Na raced into the Wimbledon quarterfinals with a 6-2, 6-0 demolition of Italian 11th seed Roberta Vinci on Monday.
